Harry Belafonte is not just one of the greatest entertainers of our time; he has led one of the great American lives of the last century. From a poverty-ridden start to against-all-odds movie stardom, Belafonte has broken down racial barriers in Hollywood whilst fighting social injustices off screen. Susanne Rostock’s biographical documentary lets us share in the struggles, the tragedies, and, most of all, the triumphs of this extraordinary icon.

Deeply moving, supremely uplifting and truly inspirational!

A very interesting and captivating documentary. I knew the name Harry Belafonte, but not much else, so this documentary definitely helped give more more insight into his life and his charity works. I also enjoyed how the majority of the documentary was narrated by Belafonte himself rather than others just telling you about him for their own personal perspectives. It gives the film a more authentic feel.
